It's quite distinctive among boys' schools, a well-balanced school in terms of academics and sports. The academic pressure isn't too high, making it suitable for Chinese boys with above-average aptitude. It's also quite friendly towards international students.

After the official enrollment, the intense student life began. From around 8 AM until bedtime, the children's schedules are packed with studies, sports, social activities, and daily routines; every arrangement made by the school is very thoughtful and comprehensive. Each child has an advisor, who is a school teacher. You can discuss any issues you have regarding your studies, life, psychological well-being, etc., with them. The advisor meets with the child every day, shares breakfast or dinner, and cares about all aspects of the child's academic and daily life, much like a parent, but not in an overbearing way – it's very equal and friendly. Our child has a great relationship with their advisor; when our child bought a new car, the advisor even made a special trip to see it after hearing about it. The school is very strict about mobile phone use; if you look at your phone while walking, it will be confiscated for a period. The principal shows a stack of confiscated phones to everyone daily. The school strongly emphasizes face-to-face communication, with a slogan "heads up," hoping children won't be constantly on their phones. Phones are also not allowed during classes or self-study. Our child really likes Avon and feels that many aspects of their school are not well-known, and even said they want to create an account on Xiaohongshu to promote their school.

Our child is going to Avon for ninth grade this September, and both our child and we are very satisfied with the school. The environment is excellent; both the natural surroundings and the school atmosphere are very nice. Avon is an all-boys school with a wonderful 'big brother' tradition. Every new student is assigned a 'big brother' from an older grade before enrollment, who will answer any questions you have about the school. Parents can even add them on WeChat if they wish. When we arrived in the US, we wanted to drop off our large luggage at the school first so we wouldn't have to move it again on the official check-in day, as we were worried about not having a place to put it. The big brother provided a lot of help with this. That day, we arrived at the school past 6 PM. While waiting for a reply after messaging the big brother, anyone who saw us would come up and ask if we needed any help. The first person we met was the school's head chef. We told him we were new students, wanted to drop off luggage first, and were waiting for someone. He waited with us for a bit, then left and returned with the assistant principal. The big brother also arrived, and we placed our luggage in his office together. They even asked if we wanted to go to the dining hall for dinner. It was truly heartwarming.

Avon is a classic boys' school, strongly emphasizing community and brotherhood. Academically, it offers a well-rounded curriculum in both arts and sciences, is very friendly to international students, and provides meticulous care. Although there are many excellent athletes, students of all athletic abilities can find sports suitable for them. The school management is very strict: there are fixed evening study hours in dorms every day, supervised by teachers; there are strict requirements for mobile phone use in learning, sports, and social settings; smoking and drinking are strictly prohibited; leaving campus requires an application, and so on. In short, it gives parents great peace of mind. After four years of schooling, my son developed in all aspects, growing into a healthy, sunny big boy both physically and mentally, and forged deep friendships with teachers and classmates. I am very grateful for the right choice we made back then!

A small and beautiful boutique school. Children wear formal attire to class, which not only shows respect for teachers and elders and an emphasis on self-image, but also creates a confident and focused learning atmosphere, full of a sense of ritual. The school invites Chinese students to gatherings during major Chinese festivals, and the school teachers and staff are very friendly to international students. During holidays or when returning to school, the school provides shuttle buses to and from the airport for international students, which is safe and convenient. Avon is not just a school, but more like a family, where good role models set by senior students deeply influence their junior counterparts. Conversations among peers are more educational, and children are more willing to accept them. The older boys are all sunny, friendly, independent, and confident, and their spirit is very infectious, embodying the school's heritage. There's no need to worry about academics at all; the power of role models allows children to develop strong self-drive, learn independently, self-regulate, and grow progressively. While solving various complex problems, they also gain the ability to take on future family and social responsibilities.

After just one year of studying at Avon, I've clearly felt the changes in my son: he's more open, more willing to communicate, and smiles more. As the child himself said, what Avon teaches them is truly to 'Be a good man!' So there's absolutely no need to worry about the concerns regarding single-sex schools. Academically, parents can always keep track of their child's learning and progress; with 4 terms in a year, teachers email updates on the child's grades and performance after two exams each term. Beyond the academic teachers, the Headmaster, admissions office, and other school staff are all very caring towards international students, making my child feel so content that he doesn't want to leave. Finally, I must mention that the campus is truly beautiful, especially on snowy days, which is absolutely stunning for a child from the South!
