This is a PK-12 private day school located in Brooklyn, New York. In the Fall of 2021-22, a second campus for lower grades opened in CityPoint, downtown Brooklyn. Helping students effectively manage their time and homework is a core principle of BASIS. I once visited this school; it is located in the city center and does not have a traditional campus.
School Features:
1) Challenging Curriculum: In high school core subjects, Honors courses are the minimum level offered, with most courses at the AP level. Students begin studying AP courses as early as 9th grade, thus the academic requirements for students are very high.
2) Senior Project: Fourth-year high school students undertake a 3-month off-campus Senior Project. This project is proposed and structured by students under the guidance of internal faculty advisors and external professional experts in fields chosen by the students.
3) Decent Arts Program: In 2019–20, students received 4 Gold Key awards, 1 National Honor award, 6 Silver Key awards, 16 Honorable Mentions, etc. The school's dance program is good.
4) Field Trips: Students will go on 2-3 field trips throughout the year. Recent field trips included the Bronx Zoo, El Museo del Barrio, the Museum of the City of New York, etc.
5) Project Week: This is an opportunity for students of all grades to engage in multidisciplinary projects with their peers and participate in interesting new activities or inter-grade trips. Upper-grade students are offered 4 international travel opportunities during Project Week.
6) Good College Matriculation: In 2021, 52.3% of graduates were admitted to USNews Top 25 schools.
