Fryeburg Academy

The school campus is located at the foot of the safe, quiet, and scenic White Mountain National Park in the United States, and is one of the oldest private elite boarding secondary schools in the US. Founded in 1792, the school has a history of 227 years. It is one of the founding schools of the New England Association of Schools and Colleges under the U.S. Department of Education, and also one of the first schools in New England to accept international students. With 66 years of experience in fostering international students, it has become a model for globalized education in the New England region. In its early days, the school served as a preparatory school for Bowdoin College, a top liberal arts college in the United States. With excellent teaching and numerous distinguished alumni, the school has produced 11 U.S. senators and governors, 10 founders or presidents of Fortune Global 500 companies, 5 Olympic champions, and multiple artists and Pulitzer Prize winners.

Fryeburg Academy is an excellent school. Its only drawback is that transportation is not very convenient. However, the school boasts a history of over 200 years and places great importance on Chinese international students. The school regularly invites outstanding professionals from various industries to give lectures and interact with students, providing them with various excellent opportunities. The school's new dining hall is also exceptional, offering steaks, salmon, lobster rolls, burgers, noodles, rice, dumplings, and a dedicated salad bar, among other options, to satisfy students' tastes from different countries. Every year, the school hosts special lobster dinners and Chinese New Year dinner events. The school's newly built dining hall, which cost 6.5 million US dollars and opened in 2020, was hailed by the Conway Post as the most beautiful high school cafeteria in the United States! A student currently studying there feels great, is doing well academically, and the school gives her considerable attention. I believe it is a severely underestimated school.

Campus Environment
The school is located in southern Maine, bordering New Hampshire, just a 10-minute drive from the famous ski resort of Conway, and a 15-minute drive to several large shopping malls, Walmart, outlet malls, etc., which are all tax-free. The natural environment is beautiful, and the community is very safe and livable. The school is about a 2.5-hour drive from Boston and is one of the ten oldest traditional boarding high schools in the United States. Former U.S. Secretary of State Webster once taught at the school.
Academics
Graduates have excellent college placements. As a preparatory school for Bowdoin College, a TOP 5 liberal arts college in the U.S., international graduates annually go on to top-tier universities, including Ivy League schools and world-class art academies.
Featured Programs
The ski program is very renowned. The school's ski coach is a coach for the U.S. National Ski Team, and the school collaborates with the MWV Ski Team, having trained multiple world champions in skiing.
The school's film program is outstanding, allowing students to have Hollywood-level film production experience, with 40 student-produced films screened annually.
The school's ESL program is second to none in the New England region. ESL teachers annually provide ESL course teaching training to many other private schools.
The school's jazz band has won the national high school competition for 14 consecutive years. The school also has a dedicated certificate of art program.
The math program has won the Maine championship for three consecutive years.

I graduated from FA. Indeed, I had three very happy years there. If a child is interested in music or film, this place can offer significant help. The music teachers are very dedicated, and the school's bands are award-winning. However, the geographical location is very far north, it's a bit cold, and the location is somewhat rural/remote. I personally studied a bit of music and played with a band for a while, it's a wonderful memory.
