As an individual, I don't understand why so many parents, and even consultants, get so fixated and dwell on the fact that Lington Hall had a higher proportion of Chinese students several years ago. What are you worried about? That children will stick together too much? That children can't compete with Americans? I know many students from top thirty international schools in the US. They are all highly accomplished, have won various academic awards, and are excellent students with strong leadership skills at school. However, in their schools, the total number of Chinese students combined is fewer than five. Whenever I talk to them about this, they usually complain to me about why there are so few Chinese students at their school. They always feel something is missing. In recent years, Lington Hall has seen many student clubs formed primarily by Chinese students, such as the Chinese Cooking Club. They have organized several large-scale events where they made and sold Chinese desserts. From these activities, students can earn social service hours through their labor, gain experience in sales and promotion, and develop leadership skills, all of which are beneficial for college applications. More importantly, these Chinese girls have brought together girls from across Asia and other continents, showcasing the school's cohesion and the warmth that still exists at school, despite being far from home. Most Chinese students who have studied abroad and achieved excellent results would say that living and studying in an environment with more Chinese students is not a bad thing at all! Furthermore, when facing an unfamiliar environment, interacting with peers in the same situation can make one feel more warmth. Dear parents and consultants, please put aside your broad and rigid thinking, consider things from your children's perspective, and move forward with the times.
