Winchendon offers engaging courses and is also committed to doing everything we can to support each student's individual interests and passions, which sometimes leads students beyond the school's curriculum. Winchendon is a member of the Hybrid Learning Consortium, a group of top schools worldwide that share courses by leveraging technology. Through the interdisciplinary ColLAB project, students gain unique learning experiences both on and off campus. After two weeks of immersive learning and exploration, students share their findings in a workshop. ColLAB, short for 'Collaborative Laboratory,' is a time and physical space where students and faculty step away from more traditional classroom learning to immerse themselves in areas of interest and apply skills and habits they've learned. Students can choose to undertake internships or independent projects, or participate in faculty-led immersive projects within the two ColLAB modules offered in January and May.

I feel that Winchendon School is a very typical American boarding high school, possessing many characteristics of American high schools that I am familiar with. The school is located in a beautiful small town, and the student population is relatively small, with fewer than 300 students. The proportion of international students is within an acceptable range, with Chinese students making up around 10%. The campus is not small, and all living and sports facilities are complete. The teachers are very enthusiastic and outgoing, and students receive a high level of attention. The school organizes activities for students every weekend and frequently arranges trips to New York and Boston. The school is over an hour's drive from Boston International Airport, and there are multiple direct flights back home, making transportation convenient.

I am a parent of a student from China. Our child started school last September. Two weeks after enrollment, I video-called my child, who looked very happy and said the school was really good and they had adapted well in all aspects. The child's first semester grades were also good. Seeing our child happily learning and living, we as parents feel even happier than the child.

The teaching staff is also quite outstanding, ensuring that every student receives attention. Of course, the most convincing aspect is the post-graduation placements; graduates from this school have been admitted to top-ranked universities such as Yale University, Cornell University, New York University, Boston University, Northeastern University, and others.

I am one of many international students studying in the US. In 2018, I enrolled in The Winchendon School. It's a school with a very long history, and I've been here for almost two years now. When I first arrived, I might have felt a bit out of place, but after a month of adjusting, I found it very easy to integrate into this large community. In my opinion, TWS's biggest advantage is its ability to rapidly improve one's spoken English and to understand and immerse oneself in traditional American culture. The school keeps its student body under 300 students each year, and I feel like there are fewer and fewer Asian faces among my classmates. The environment forces you to speak English from the moment you open your eyes until you close them at the end of the day. Sometimes, I even speak English in my dreams. How could progress not be fast?
Because many of my friends also study abroad, a common issue now, especially for those new to the US and unfamiliar with the new environment, is that once they meet someone from China, just like themselves, it's like grabbing a lifeline. From then on, they only interact with other Chinese people. Not only does their language ability struggle to improve, but it's also impossible to integrate into American social circles. Of course, I'm not saying it's bad for Chinese people to be together, but isn't our purpose in coming to America to elevate our language skills and understanding of foreign cultures to a new level? I've found that as long as I'm willing to initiate conversations, American classmates and teachers are still very friendly and caring towards me, and my relationship with them is also very close.
All I can do is share some of my own experiences and stories from studying in an American school, hoping they can be helpful to everyone.

I have a student who has been studying at this school for two years, and he tells me he's still very satisfied with it. Chinese students make up about 10% of the school population, and there are also international students from other countries. While some Chinese students prefer to stick together, he personally really enjoys mingling with local American students. In fact, as long as one is willing to open up, most international classmates are generally willing to be friends and communicate more in terms of study and life. He said what makes him happiest are the school's rich and flexible courses, with 16 AP courses available for selection, which is very beneficial for his future university applications. There are also many art and sports courses to choose from, allowing him not only to study different subjects according to his interests but also to meet different friends in various classes. He also understands that what the school can provide is limited to assistance with environment, courses, resources, etc., and that academic success largely depends on self-directed learning. He wants to go to a good university, so he still needs to study hard himself. From our occasional chats, I feel that this student has changed a lot. Compared to before going abroad, he is now more sensible, more understanding of his parents' hard work back home, and has become more confident and outgoing. He also seems to have become more independent in life.

The geographical location of Winchendon School is quite suitable for study and life. The school is located in a small town in north-central Massachusetts, just a 1.5-hour drive from Boston and about a half-hour drive from Keene, New Hampshire. It is also known for its famous ski resorts and lakes. It offers both the peaceful and serene learning environment of a small town and the convenience of being close to a major city. Students can take public buses or school shuttle buses from the school entrance to and from Boston.
The school has international students from all over the world, making its campus culture more diverse. Students can communicate closely, learn from each other, and complement each other's strengths in their daily lives and studies. They can also engage in independent learning under the guidance of enthusiastic and excellent teachers, thereby becoming more confident.
In recent years, our outstanding graduates have gone on to attend Yale University, New York University, Tufts University, Boston University, Northeastern University, Babson College (School of Business), and other nearby institutions.

My friend's child studies here and has grown to love golf and ice hockey. They say this is a very suitable place for learning, with many activities, and they are very happy. The area next to the school is quite quiet, yet very close to the hustle and bustle of Boston, and the school often organizes trips to Boston. The personalized learning plans can meet the improvement needs of different students, which I really like. As a result, many Chinese graduates go on to prestigious universities! Although my child is still young and this school is a high school, I still really like it and am keeping it in mind as an option. Oh, and the school is very wealthy, and the food is good. The facilities are new and quite comprehensive. This puts my mind at ease. Because I recently heard about schools in Boston facing financial crises and closing down, I deeply feel that a school having money really says a lot. I hope they develop well.

Winchendon respects academic fairness and integrity, with students keeping the oath in mind: I will not lie, cheat, or plagiarize. The honor system is deeply ingrained in the Winchendon community. Winchendon's classes average 7 to 9 students in most courses, a very small group size that lays the foundation for each teacher to get to know each student well. Each month, G8 implements different concepts, allowing children to advance their learning, activities, and plans under the guidance of various philosophies. Through in-depth and extensive academic guidance, teachers recommend personal goals and study subjects based on students' varying academic performance, demonstrating a significant amount of individual attention. Most graduates are admitted to Harvard University, Boston University, and Northeastern University. Typically, students might attend school in rural areas or in cities. Winchendon students get the best of both worlds. They can live and study in New York's largest city, but also have the opportunity to travel to the rural Massachusetts campus for special programs, activities, and courses. They also have the chance to visit New York City or Boston for workshops, events, and other programs.

My son is a graduate of Winchendon. Based on our communication with him and our own observations, overall, we are quite satisfied with the school. We were particularly impressed by Head of School Mr. Kerney and Campus Head Ms. Lambert. We feel they are fully dedicated to the school and its students, always striving to help every student, and are very warm and approachable. The teachers we interacted with were also very professional and dedicated. In particular, a young female math teacher, besides classroom instruction, also organized students to participate in various math competitions outside school, trying to cultivate students' interest in mathematics. Therefore, we are very satisfied with the school, from the management to the specific teaching staff. Regarding shortcomings, Winchendon School's academic standards have a gap compared to other highly reputable private high schools. I speculate this is partly due to the faculty setup and partly related to the academic foundation of the recruited students. The school management should be clearly aware of this, which is why they emphasize providing an appropriate environment to help students become their best selves. Thus, upon high school graduation, some very diligent and ambitious Chinese students were admitted to excellent American universities, while many students with weaker foundations likely entered second-tier American universities. It is understood that the quality of Winchendon graduates' admission to American universities has significantly improved in the past one or two years.
