Western Reserve Academy was founded in 1826, located in Hudson, Ohio, a 40-minute drive from Cleveland, Ohio's largest city.
In terms of curriculum advantages, Western Reserve Academy is also the only high school in the United States that offers a cancer immunology course, where students can conduct research and study at Case Western Reserve University and hospitals in Cleveland. It also offers courses such as biotechnology, microbiology, and pathobiology of human diseases. The school has also been rated as the best STEM school in Ohio, boasting 11 state-of-the-art science labs and a 6,000-square-foot Wang Innovation Center, which serves as an incubator for students' high-tech ideas, offering courses in aerospace engineering, computer control, electronics manufacturing, 3D scanning and printing, and model making.
The school does not offer AP courses; instead, it offers over 20 university-level courses that surpass AP courses. It is also the first school in the region to offer courses beyond AP, naming these university-level courses "immersive courses." It also offers the ECHO program, which involves some interesting courses, equivalent to college electives, such as Sherlock Holmes Investigations, forensic medicine, and exercise physiology.
In addition to basic English, mathematics, language, science, and art courses, the school has also established a brand-new academic department – Integrated Studies and Design – to unlock new opportunities for every "pioneer" and unleash their passions.
