For over 90 years, Buxton has been educating students in the progressive tradition. Experienced faculty nurture and challenge students in all aspects of their intellectual, artistic, and social lives. Discussion-based classes are the norm; advanced classes are offered in all academic areas; the arts program is varied and full. Central to the school experience are Work Program and the Urban Intensive, an on-the-road study of a North American city. The lovely 125-acre campus overlooks historic Williamstown. Williams College and the Clark Art Institute, exceptional resources, are right next door.

As a student who has graduated from Buxton, I can responsibly say that Buxton is a great school.
1. First, regarding its living environment, it's very peaceful, far from the hustle and bustle of the city. Students can leave campus every Tuesday and Saturday to experience the town atmosphere. At the same time, it's very close to Williams College, allowing students to visit the university library to borrow books during their free time.
2. From an academic environment perspective, every teacher is very responsible. Every week, they have private meetings with students, including discussions about their lives and academics. Every three months, they ask students to write self-assessments of their classroom performance, and then the teachers provide their feedback on the students' performance. If there are academic problems, the teachers will work with you to solve them. More than just teachers, they are like family. Although Buxton doesn't have exams or finals, they focus not on temporary scores but on students' consistent performance – the rigor of their assignments and the thoroughness of their completion. Buxton emphasizes daily effort rather than hoping students cram at the last minute before an exam. Annually, weekly training is provided for students preparing for the SAT and ACT. Buxton's learning environment simulates university life, allowing students to experience it in advance.
3. School Activities. Buxton encourages students to treat the school as their home. Every Tuesday and Saturday, students participate in a thorough clean-up. This encourages students to be responsible for the environment they live in.
