Today, I visited the prestigious Lake Forest Academy, arguably the best high school in the Chicago area. I chatted with a local Japanese-American applicant, whose elder brother finished LFA, and now her younger sister is continuing there. This shows how highly local families regard this school. The tour guide from Ningbo also mentioned the school's academic rigor and the excellent college matriculation of its Chinese international students, including the University of Chicago, Columbia University, Northwestern University, and UC Berkeley. The college placements are indeed impressive!

The best private school in the Chicago area. It is located in a very beautiful suburban area about 30 mins north of O'Hare airport. The school offers a rich set of quality courses for students to choose from. Many of the courses are as challenging as those of college level. There are also a lot of fun clubs and activities around the campus. My kid has grown very mature and responsible. Highly recommended.

The earliest class of the day starts at 8:10 AM (this may vary according to individual timetables, but never earlier than 8:10 AM). Generally, the day is divided into 8 time slots, with 1 to 3 breaks interspersed. School finishes by 3:00 PM at the latest each day. After 3:00 PM is the students' personal time. The school encourages students to manage their after-school time more independently, but this does not mean there is no supervision. Teachers check on each dormitory, and students must study from 8:00 PM to 10:00 PM.

Each student receives their own timetable upon enrollment or promotion to the next grade. The timetable is divided into A-G for 7 days. It should be noted that classes follow an A-G cycle, but there are no classes on weekends. Therefore, next Monday's classes will follow the F timetable, and so on.

While Lake Forest College's curriculum is very rigorous, the school also recognizes that students enter with varying academic skills and may require additional support to thrive. LFA's Academic Support Program meets this need by providing individual and group support in time management, organization, study skills development, note-taking and reading skills development, and assignment completion. Teachers provide individualized guidance on organization, time management, and study skills, as well as academic counseling to discuss academic concerns, and on-campus academic support (math and writing assistance, homework completion, coordinating group study, and evening study halls). LFA develops academic support plans for students encountering academic difficulties due to absence, illness, or mental health crises (in collaboration with the Dean of Students and school counselors). It also coordinates all national standardized tests (ACT, PSAT, SAT, and AP exams).

Regarding Further Education Guidance:
Starting from the first semester of junior high school, students receive one-on-one further education guidance, with support provided throughout the entire application process. I understand that in China, most students typically need to seek out external counselors for such guidance and assistance. At our school, we require parental involvement in students' further education guidance. It's crucial for us to understand the perspectives of both students and their parents. This approach embodies our educational philosophy. Frankly, when it comes to guiding students through their academic progression, we are truly the experts.

School's advantages and features:
Admissions Officer:
Lake Forest Academy, founded in 1857, is located over 50 kilometers from Chicago and is a school with a strong academic level. Our school is a vibrant institution, spanning approximately over 60 hectares. However, we are very close to a major city, which allows our students to experience big-city culture, visit museums, watch performances, participate in competitions, and go shopping. In this regard, our school is much more convenient than many East Coast schools, which are often too far from cities. We are very close to a major city and the airport. The international airport offers direct flights to Beijing, Shanghai, Hong Kong, and other cities. Our school is only a 30-minute drive from the airport, making it extremely convenient for international students; many students return home twice a year.
Furthermore, our school offers a wide variety of engaging weekend activities. Students can stay on campus during weekends to participate in all sorts of events. Our students only have classes from Monday to Friday. Unlike most East Coast schools, we do not schedule Saturday classes. Students particularly enjoy participating in these activities and are very active.
