As a parent, choosing Maumee Valley Country Day School has been one of the best decisions we’ve ever made for our child. If you are looking for an environment that balances rigorous academics with genuine, whole-child support, this is it.
Our child is naturally driven and has learned at an accelerated pace. The teachers and staff truly take the time to get to know my child’s unique strengths, interests, and personality. Because they feel deeply supported and seen, they have the confidence to push their academic boundaries.
What really sets MVCDS apart is the community. It is a warm, inclusive, and deeply supportive environment.
We couldn’t be happier with our experience and highly recommend MVCDS to any family looking for an exceptional education.

Maumee Valley Country Day School provides an exceptional home for international students, offering a safe and inclusive boarding environment that feels like a true family. The academic experience is world-class, featuring small class sizes and a curriculum that prioritizes deep engagement over rote memorization. A standout feature is the Intensives program, where students spend three weeks diving deep into specialized subjects, often through independent studies or extraordinary global field trips that fully prepare them for the rigors of college. The support for the international community is amazing, with dedicated staff ensuring every student feels confident and independent. Beyond the classroom, the phenomenal arts program and delicious, chef-prepared meals make daily life both vibrant and comfortable. MV truly brings out the best in its students, shaping compassionate and capable global citizens ready to make a meaningful impact.

There was a student who was misled by the admissions director's serious demeanor during an online interview and refused to attend the school after being admitted. :D
I personally visited the school this March, and the school's hardware, software, and the teachers' dedication all exceeded my expectations. The admissions director was meticulous in reception and arrangements, very serious and responsible, completely different from the impression I got during the online interview. The school isn't large, but the buildings have a very modern, sunny style with excellent natural lighting, making it feel very comfortable in the office building. The school has an auditorium; when we visited, two American girls were rehearsing an opera, and their singing was absolutely professional level. The school's sports fields and facilities are also quite comprehensive, sufficient for students' athletic needs.
Maumee Valley is primarily a day school, but it has a 2-story dormitory building that can accommodate about 30 people, with one floor for boys and one for girls. Each year, adjustments are made for who lives upstairs and downstairs based on the proportion of boarding boys and girls. The dorm supervisor is a tall girl who is also very kind. Most of the residents in the dorm are Chinese children, and the dormitory building is decorated with a strong Chinese cultural atmosphere. Returning to the dorm each day feels like returning to China. We joked at the time that while the children study at Maumee Valley, they are in the US during the day and return to China at night. Whether this is an advantage or a disadvantage, each family needs to determine based on their own needs.
Regarding dining, when we visited, a specific flavored meal was still provided fixedly every lunchtime, not like the buffet style of many other boarding high schools. If some children aren't used to a certain flavor, they might go hungry one lunchtime.
