Seton Hall Prep is New Jersey’s oldest Catholic college preparatory school. Founded in 1856 in Madison, the school moved to South Orange in 1860, where it prospered as part of Seton Hall University until 1985, when, after becoming independent, it re-located to the neighboring town of West Orange.
• Seton Hall Prep is accredited by the Middle States Association of Colleges and Schools, drawing its 960 students [grades 9-12] from 130 towns and 10 counties, principally from the northern New Jersey counties of Essex, Morris, Union and Hudson.
• The school is located less than one half mile from Interstate Route 280 and near or along major rail and public bus routes. In 2009 the school added a corporate-style Dining Hall to the 1926 main building, and, in 2014, the John J. Murphy ’52 Science Center.
• A comprehensive Activities Program offers 40 clubs and co-curricular activities. The Prep’s widely respected Athletic Program fields 16 interscholastic varsity teams, most also at sub-varsity and freshman levels. The school’s nearby Kelly Athletic Complex provides a 400m track, football, lacrosse, soccer, baseball and tennis facilities.

Seton Hall Preparatory School is a private school located in northern central New Jersey. The school boasts academic excellence, a rich curriculum, and offers 23 AP courses. The school arranges numerous extracurricular activities, such as its very famous robotics club. Its sports programs are very strong, with outstanding achievements in basketball, soccer, and football, earning countless awards. Each year, a certain number of graduates are admitted to Ivy League schools, and many enter universities ranked in the top 50 by USNEWS. The school's mission is to foster students' spiritual, intellectual, social, and physical holistic development. The school enjoys a superior geographical location, 16 miles from the financial center of New York City, a 30-minute drive. It is also 5 miles from Newark International Airport, a 10-minute drive. The school provides special care and attention to international students. Mr. Hegedus, who manages international students, is a local American but has studied Chinese history in China, has a deep love for Chinese culture, can write and speak Chinese, and can communicate with parents in Chinese. The school organizes events for Chinese New Year, Lantern Festival, and Mid-Autumn Festival, where Chinese international students and local American students make dumplings together, eat tangyuan, give out red envelopes, gather happily, learn from each other, and strengthen friendships! Most of the school's host families are arranged and managed by Elite Education, located near the school. Students are picked up and dropped off by their host families, with a commute time of within 15 minutes.

Seton Hall Preparatory School is a Catholic boys' school located in New Jersey, with a history of over 160 years, spanning 55 acres, and an 85% ratio of senior teachers. I once visited the school; its architectural style is classical, and the interior decoration is luxurious, like a small castle. A brand new science lab building was completed in 2014. During my visit, I listened to a Chinese class, and the teacher responsible for teaching Chinese had worked and studied in China and was very friendly to Chinese people.

School Features:

1) The school offers STEM and engineering courses, with featured courses in computer programming, Java, and video production. The school provides scholarship programs for outstanding students starting from their first year.

2) The internship program is a highlight of the school: students have completed internships at 47 locations, including the Urban Justice Center, New Jersey District Court, Macculloch Hall Historical Museum, and international audit banks.

3) The school provides community service opportunities for individuals, clubs, and organizations. The artwork of a Chinese student was once exhibited in a museum and received a scholarship.

4) In the arts, the school frequently stages dramas in both spring and fall, and a spring musical.

5) The school's sports teams have won multiple state championships in baseball, basketball, lacrosse, football, track and field, and other sports.

6) The university matriculation is quite impressive, with accepted institutions in 2019 and 2020 including MIT, UC Berkeley, UCLA, Berklee College of Music, University of Pennsylvania, Stanford University, Columbia University, Cornell University, Yale University, etc.
