School Overview

Springfield Commonwealth Academy’s Mission is to develop the students in mind, body, and character; to prepare them for further education and to be effective leaders and responsible citizens. Inherent in this mission are our four pillars of success: Leadership, Academics, Athletics, and Resilience (L.A.A.R). Our comprehensive athletic program plays a crucial role in fostering teamwork, discipline, and physical fitness among our students, contributing to their overall development.

SCA’s vision is to be the leading private co-ed college preparatory school in the United States. SCA is an advocate for diversity, equity, and inclusion (DEI). Scholarships and Financial Aid are offered to families based on merit and need. Using a community model and a rigorous academic curriculum grounded in classical disciplines, SCA graduates are equipped to live extraordinary lives of accountability and service. Academy students, including those from underprivileged backgrounds, participate in a 21st-century academic curriculum and a structured Leadership Program, guided by experienced adult mentors. Our program’s unique approach combines adult mentorship with peer-to-peer interaction, fostering confidence and personal accountability in our students’ leadership development. This distinguishes us from other schools and ensures a well-rounded leadership education.

SCA prepares students for the challenges of college. By the time they graduate, SCA students will have had access to: a variety of meaningful leadership experiences, a robust curriculum geared toward 21st-century priorities (creativity, collaboration, critical thinking, and communication), and a solid core of lifetime fitness and outdoor learning skills. These are the intangibles that make SCA an excellent educational experience.

From the initial worries about the child being alone in a foreign land, concerned that it would take a long time for the child to adapt to a pure English living and learning environment, to feeling reassured about the child's life and studies, and delighted about their growth, all of this is due to the immense gratitude for the school teachers' care for the child.

The school is highly inclusive, stemming from its students coming from multiple countries and regions around the world. The teachers are also excellent, showing great care for the students. The convenience is exceptional; the school is located in the city center, with a large shopping supermarket and various urban public facilities just two blocks away.

1. The school's diversity is excellent, ranking 2nd among private high schools in Massachusetts and 45th among private high schools in the United States. There's absolutely no need to worry about children being discriminated against here; teachers and students are all very nice.
2. The school's location is also quite good, situated within downtown Springfield, the third-largest city in Massachusetts. From the campus, you can overlook the Basketball Hall of Fame, and it takes only 5 minutes to reach various downtown facilities and venues. Boston Airport is also just 1.5 hours away.
3. Basketball is a major highlight of the school, consistently winning the New England Private School Basketball League Championship year after year.
4. The school provides excellent guidance for students' academic and career planning, and this year, students' college admissions have been very successful.

After the outbreak of the epidemic in the U.S., the school temporarily closed in accordance with state requirements. The principal clearly stated that for Chinese students who needed to return home, the school would be responsible for safe airport drop-offs, and for students who stayed, the school would take responsibility for them, which put us parents at ease. Fearing that parents might not understand lengthy English explanations, the school even specially issued a Chinese version of the text explaining the I20 form to alleviate parents' concerns. How thoughtful!
