Emphasizes humanistic care, with a broad scope in the arts, including studio art, fine art, ceramics, photography, dance, theater, music, and film production.
It is very close to Boston. A proponent of American progressive education, its curriculum implements a module system with 7 modules per year, each lasting 5 weeks. During these 5 weeks, students only study 3 courses, enabling deeper and more thorough learning with high efficiency. The arts program is very strong, featuring a dedicated performing arts center.
It highly values social justice, focusing on issues such as gender equality, immigration, race, and poverty. It is the first private boarding high school to make social justice a compulsory course. Feminism is emphasized.

Tilton School was founded in 1845, approximately 1.5 hours' drive from Boston. It is a traditional century-old boarding school with a rich history, a student-teacher ratio of 1:6, and close student-teacher relationships. It boasts first-class educational facilities, especially its excellent sports facilities, including 22 acres of sports fields. The campus features both classical New England style architecture and very modern teaching buildings.

As a student graduating next year, I want to say that sometimes the school is really disappointing. It feels like the school is just a commercial organization that fundamentally puts money first. They are even unwilling to spend money to install a few more access control systems for convenience, making students take a detour, claiming it's too expensive. Yet, international students' tuition is so expensive.
Furthermore, with online classes this year, students didn't live for all four quarters, but the school isn't refunding meal plan fees, dorm fees, or anything like that. This feels really absurd. I completely understand and have no problem with tuition not being refunded, but I can't understand the meal plan and dorm fees.
On the contrary, the school constantly asks international students' parents for donations. I really don't know why. Where does all the money go??? Moreover, the proportion of international students is gradually increasing each year, so I advise everyone to think carefully before coming here. I am also preparing to transfer.

I really like Tilton School. The academic demands are rigorous, and the teachers are highly skilled. The most important thing Tilton School has given me is teaching me how to learn. The school teachers provided me with ample guidance and space to develop myself. When I needed it, they offered timely help. I sincerely thank Tilton School for this, rather than just mechanical supervision.

Thank you for the school's arrangements and everything it has done! Facing this sudden situation, at a time when we parents were most worried and conflicted, the school's performance gave us a sense of reassurance. The principal and his wife, along with the teachers, selflessly provided help and support to the children, disregarding their own safety! I believe this must be the spirit passed down through a century at this school! Please take care, teachers! I also wish the school everlasting prosperity! Thank you!

I have attended several Tilton parent meetings and have the following observations:
1. The campus is very beautiful and tranquil, with a strong academic atmosphere.
2. Principal Peter and Rachel, the teacher responsible for international students, have a deep understanding of students' academics, personalities, and daily lives. The school has a relatively small number of students, so there's a lot of individual attention, and the relationship between teachers and students is quite close.
3. The school's sports programs are exceptionally strong, with daily athletic activities. Several of the school's teams and winter sports are particularly competitive. Most parents of graduating students report that their children transformed from relatively introverted to open and outgoing, and also communicate more with their parents.
4. The school's grading system is quite unique, distinguishing between effort grades and outcome grades.
5. The school's IT teaching system is also quite strong.
6. The school places great importance on parent feedback.
Overall, it is suitable for families who prioritize and love sports, wish for their children to have space to transform during high school, and place more emphasis on character development and change in their American high school experience.

Tilton School is a typical American high school. The first time we visited, my son showed me around the library, basketball court, ice hockey rink, dining hall, and so on. The campus buildings largely retain their hundred-year-old historical gravitas. Looking at a high school with just over two hundred students, yet enjoying such professional sports facilities, the difference in objectives compared to key high schools in China is immediately apparent. Practicality, compassion, fairness, and rationality are my impressions of my child's teachers. The school's dining hall primarily offers American cuisine, so my child sometimes orders takeout. Because the campus is in the suburbs, my child can only take the school bus to Boston on weekends or holidays. There are often activities planned on regular weekends. Here, my child has developed a character of freedom, fairness, justice, and kindness.

In September 2018, my son transferred from Houston to Tilton School to attend 10th grade. There's a Walmart commercial plaza near the school, and the school provides free shuttle buses weekly. There are also public buses to Boston, which makes shopping and travel convenient without being noisy, allowing children to focus on their studies. The school has a very positive academic and overall ethos. Every year, the principal personally comes to China to hold parent meetings, making it easy for us to stay informed and provide feedback on our child's progress at school.
My son has also made good friends here. During holidays, they travel together, stay in B&Bs, cook, and enjoy home life together. At Tilton, he learned to ski and chose to study French; he says his French teacher is amazing! He frequently goes to the school gym, where he has received guidance and help from other students and enjoyed the fun of fitness.
It's particularly worth mentioning that at the initial outbreak of COVID-19 in the US, which coincided with the students' spring break, the principal's wife drove 5-6 hours multiple times back and forth to Boston to pick up students and bring them back to school. The school continues to keep its doors open for Chinese students, providing them with food, accommodation, and study support. This has alleviated the anxiety of many Chinese families, given children an extra option, and earned widespread praise from Chinese parents! Tilton is like a big family; the principal and teachers are like parents to the children, carefully nurturing them with their "wings" and creating a safe and loving home for them. My son and I love Tilton!
Just yesterday, during an online class, my son's advisor informed him that his grades for this quarter were all A's, which is truly wonderful news!

A school I'm personally very fond of. I adore the classical beauty of its campus, especially the library. It has that feeling where once you step inside, you never want to leave. It feels like even the most restless mind can find peace there. I truly appreciate this atmosphere rich with a sense of history and time.
