Vermont Academy data: 200 students, student-faculty ratio 1:6, international students 25%, boarding rate 80%, teachers with advanced degrees 82%. Vermont Academy is situated on a 450-acre campus at the foot of the Green Mountains along the Saxtons River in Vermont. The teachers at Vermont Academy employ a rigorous teaching methodology guided by the principle of learning by doing. Students who actively participate in activities such as writing, building, exploring, and performing (in short, experiencing) increasingly learn the content of our curriculum and the skills needed for success both within and beyond college. These activities challenge students to step out of their comfort zones, take risks, and try new things. Through this active approach, we strive to create powerful 21st-century learners who can think critically and creatively, and who can collaborate to solve problems. We believe that learning is an enjoyable challenge that connects work and play, and that making full use of various community resources both on and off campus can better enable students to gain experience.

ESL courses are offered on campus, with international students accounting for 25% and Chinese students for 12%, with class sizes of approximately 10 students per class.

School Advantages:

1. Student-centered, growth-oriented teaching philosophy:

By actively participating in activities such as writing, building, exploring, and performing (in short, experiencing), students increasingly learn course content and extracurricular skills. These activities challenge students to leave their comfort zones, take risks, and try new things.

2. MAPS Exclusive Customized Learning Plan:

Students at Vermont Academy will meet weekly with their guidance counselor. For example, if a student sets a goal to design, sew, and showcase a fashion show, the student will receive advice on fashion from their counselor and assistance in achieving their learning goals.

3. Numerous Writing Programs:

Student-run writing center, literary magazine, poetry recitation competition, academic and other writing competitions, creative writing electives, college essay night, advanced writing workshop - English Department, academic writing awards, etc.

4. International Student Management Experience:

My friend's child studies at this school, which is a very unpretentious school, relatively far from big cities, with not many Chinese students. In recent years, Chinese graduates have had good destinations. My friend's child applied to the University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign this year.
